South Camp Cabana, Finger Lakes Region NY

Completed as a second phase of an earlier construction project, these final two outbuildings complete this lakeside retreat that also includes a new main house and renovated guest house.

The cabana contains a central living/lounge area, kitchen, and bath. With its lake-facing wall of windows, the space becomes a breezy, open-air retreat for quiet contemplation, or a lively entertaining space. Finished in a luxe rustic style, the design concept focused on simple forms and natural textures.

The nearby writer’s shed was similarly designed to be direct in its conception – an individualized space offering privacy and water views. Exposed structure, a pared down palette, and flexible furniture complete the space.

Architectural design was completed by John Day while with Hutker Architects. Interior Design by John Day while at LDa.
