Snows Point

Cape Cod, MA

This new construction home was built on a cliff dune on the outer Cape.  The original home was a small cape that was hidden by acres of trees and plantings and had limited water views. The new owner’s goal was to create a generational home that would bring their blended family of adult children, grandchildren and wonderfully curated art collection together. The homeowners met, started the project and married through the course of the project and embraced the design of a new home to define their new life together.

The property is comprised of two modern structures,  soft dunes, lush gardens, bee hives,  feature trees,  and terraces which all create privacy and an engaging interplay with the yard, interior and ocean views. Every detail was composed of owner input and thoughtful consideration about how it may be used and viewed.

The home is decidedly green and built for aging in place. Long discussions over wine and while taking int eh view or trips to galleries, quarries and nurseries outlined a vision of a welcoming home, that will “be the place everyone wants to have a party, bring a friend, take a vacation or just call home”. The home consists of a double garage / carriage house with guest space above and a main house that offers a soaring central stair, massive operable glass wall panels and views from each of the 4 main house bedrooms. A playful and crafted approach to the built space and the décor reflects the owner’s tastes, travels, collections and love of natural materials. A playful bunk room, nursery, bee keeping shed, workshop, sculpture garden, elevator, gym, gallery walls, a gift room and a true cook’s kitchen, all found a place in the composition of a house that tells two life stories.
