Pleasant Beach, Cohasset Ma

This modern waterfront home is perched on a rocky cliff and exposed to severe weather and amazing views of the Atlantic and Boston Skyline. The home was not completed by the original homeowners and offered a unique opportunity to design and update the interior as well as create a stunning landscape and lap pool. The home was built for modern living, but not as an everyday home. John Day was hired to complete interior design services and targeted renovations that would better suit the new owners and their young family. The décor mission was to create warm and livable spaces that also offered a canvas for the homeowner’s art collection. Softening the space, creating gathering areas for entertaining but also offering smaller areas for daily life were the main design directives.

With an active bike and swim lifestyle, a lap pool, outdoor shower, mudroom, laundry room we all added or improved. Guest bedrooms and a better connection to the yard for the kids were all program requirements. A second-floor addition included an additional bedroom, and a back stair and added bath were carved from an existing 2-car garage. Finish changes were made throughout the home, along with new doors, hardware, paint, lighting, cabinetry and décor to set a more refined and sophisticated standard and look yet balanced with the new furnishings and homeowner’s significant art collection.
